Terrance Thomas Sr.
Terence A. Thomas, Sr. serves as the Chief Advocacy Officer, for the Michigan Market as well as, the Corporate Responsibility Officer for St. John Health, one of Metro Detroit’s largest health care systems. In his role, Mr. Thomas is responsible for leading the government affairs efforts for the entire Michigan Market, and ensuring the ethical business operations at St. John Health.
Prior to joining St. John Health in 2003, Mr. Thomas was a principal at Miller, Canfield, Paddock & Stone, P.L.C., Michigan’s largest and oldest law firm. His areas of practice included commercial litigation, intellectual property and emerging business development.
Mr. Thomas earned a bachelor’s degree in American History from Albion College and a law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School. After graduating from Wisconsin Law, he completed a judicial clerkship with Michigan Supreme Court Justice Conrad Mallet Jr. He also is a graduate of the Detroit Regional Chamber’s Leadership Detroit Class of XXI and Leadership Macomb 11.
His professional memberships include the American Bar Association, State Bar of Michigan, Wisconsin Bar Association and Wolverine Bar Association. Mr. Thomas currently holds board positions with Warren Conner Development Corporation, Matrix Human Services, ThinkDetroit/PAL, the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation, Detroit Historical Society, Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness, Health & Sports & the Michigan Fitness Foundation and past board memberships, including that of vice president, for the Southwest Housing Corporation and the Music Hall.
