Aten Cesante “A.C.” Alrey is a public affairs and urban development professional with extensive experience in business-government-community relations, economic and workforce development, strategic planning, community outreach/engagement, education, marketing and business/client development, administration, and urban and rural public policies.
Mr. Alrey earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Urban and Metropolitan Studies from Michigan State University (MSU) and is a past member of the Executive Board of the MSU Alumni Association’s National Board of Directors. He has obtained specialized training in the area of economic development from both the University of Oklahoma’s Economic Development Institute and Auburn University’s Intensive Economic Development Training Course in Alabama; courses focused on the three major ED core areas of business retention and expansion, real estate, and finance with specialized concentrations in marketing, strategic planning and managing economic development organizations.
Mr. Alrey’s professional and voluntary service in community and economic development have included working in Michigan, Ohio, Texas and Alabama; where he’s assisted small businesses with financial and workforce development programs. Throughout his career, he has created more defined relationships, partnerships, and “networks” amongst the businesses, public/private organizations and residents within those various communities – a value that’s well received here at the Southwest Detroit Business Association.
