The 100 Black Men of Greater Detroit’s Project Success mentees had an excellent outing to the Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Harrison Charter Township today. We had 15 students and 5 mentors on this outing. We were given a great army welcome by Captain Cyr Kamgatabopta and his staff that include Sergeant Piece, Sergeant Stewart, and Sergeant Hust. These impressive gentlemen explained the branches of the armed services to the project success mentees and then described the various careers possible in the armed forces. Staff Sergeant Stewart talked about his various deployments in Iraq, Italy, and Kuwait. The Project Success mentees were very engaged and asked insightful questions.

After a fun discussion and some pizza and chicken (thanks to the army!) the kids went outside threw footballs and shot basketballs to win some really cool army water bottles and backpacks!

Thanks to Captain Kamgatabopda and his team for a great day!
