Mentoring At Its Finest!

As our flagship initiative, the Detroit chapter works with middle and high school students in the Detroit Public School System. Our primary schools are Old Redford Academy and University Yes Academy. Our goal is to maintain/follow these students through graduation . Members of the 100 Black Men work with the students to increase their success rate for graduating from High School through various workshop sessions that reinforce academics, attendance and behavior both in school and within the program.

As an added component, our dedicated and caring mentor’s plant seeds of success by exposing them to events and activities that help them develop and exercise social skills, etiquette and mutual respect for others. In addition, one of the many incentives is the opportunity for each student to earn an all expense paid trip courtesy of the 100 to the annual national conference. These experiences afford the young men exposure to a national audience as well as a forum to exercise that which has been learned in the program.

I would like to take a moment to express how deeply grateful my son and I are to The 100 Black Men organization. Thank you so much for the opportunities that you are helping my son see, I will strongly recommend this organization to anyone in need of guidance or mentorship. You have introduced my son to so many opportunities and have opened positive doors for him guiding him onto a path for greatness.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
